YEAR 11 & 12

Our Point of Difference…

  • Attend only your subject lessons

  • No extracurricular activities

  • No uniforms

  • Support from qualified professional teachers who are passionate about their subjects

  • No more than 3 Senior School subjects in each year

  • Small classroom sizes

How it works…

At Hubbard’s we pride ourselves on our alternative, differentiated, academic pathway for senior school students.

This pathway and pedagogical approach is tailored to prepare and support academic students to complete year 12 through internal assessment and external examinations in preparation for future tertiary studies.

Our flexible learning environment allows students to tailor their education by selecting one to three subjects for the year (Hubbard’s classifies a full-time student as someone who enrolls in three subjects within a year). Our students complete their subjects within the year, allowing for them to select alternative subjects to complete their ATAR the following year.

What we do…

Lessons, homework, regular classroom tests and practice examinations are a vital part of the academic year at Hubbard’s School. Parent/teacher interviews are conducted immediately after the May and September reports are issued and additional support is provided to students where needed.

Due to Hubbard’s unique academic learning environment, students are only required to attend their lessons. They are not required to attend school when there are no lessons scheduled on their timetable

What ever your reasons for needing an alternative pathway; Hubbard’s is here for you.

Some of the reasons that students choose this pathway include:

  • Need for an accelerated or differentiated learning style

  • Heavy training schedules in sports, dance, theatre and/or music

  • Medical circumstances and conditions

Year 11 & 12 Subjects

Students have the option of selecting from any five (or six) Senior School subjects.

Students may also have the opportunity to select University subjects (for example, through the Enhanced Studies Program at UQ) in their final year.

Completion of five general subjects (or four general subjects and one vocational subject) will qualify students to receive an ATAR and QCE.

“Millie’s experience here has shaped her beautifully. She has so much confidence and is so happy with where she’s at. I don’t think she would have got that at mainstream school”

‘Hubbard’s has been one of the most positive experiences for my son, He turned up, he listened and he learned. He made friends and he respected and liked his teachers and the principal. All of this was not his experience when he was at the main stream school. I am very grateful for this – I am comforted by your involvement in my sons education and I would recommend you with the highest praise for your kindness, your compassion and your skill of communication and knowledge. Thank you so very much from all our family.’
