Celebrating Hubbard’s Talent
We would like to share some beautiful artwork made by a student at Hubbard’s who would like to remain anonymous.
These artworks are placed within the student lounge and were kindly gifted to Hubbard’s School for us to keep them up.
‘Distant Family Reunion’
When asked about the piece and what it meant; the student reflected:
“Budgies, like the majority of bird are descendants of theropods. Their most close relative is actually the Archaeopteryx though it’s not yet absolutely confirmed. The patterns on their chest, heads and wings are all unique to the individual bird so it was very freeing to paint the plumage of the dinosaur in a distinct mixture of spots and stripes. It has been made with a fixture of acyrilic paints and Posca paint pens, it took 4 days to finish (including drying time).
It’s a painting dedicated to all my past pet budgies Sweety Bell, Sweety, Sunny and to my current girl, Tikki. Tikki has been with for four years now and I just wanted to share the pleasure of seeing a budgie with others. They are wonderful birds and it’s been an absolute privilege to have been able to own them all throughout my life. Take care of animals and never take them for granted, they are a gift and impact every persons life for the better.”
‘Pyroraptor Takes a Dip’
When asked what this piece meant, they told us that:
“I wished to express my love for dinosaurs and importance of them in my life. I find drawing dinosaurs gives me the freedom to express m emotions through their intricate features and designs.
The raptor, in the Jurassic World universe, was found to enjoy swimming so I decided to incorporate a few sea critters. Though it’s not accurate to the real-life animal, I still enjoy the rendition of it.”
We would like to thank this student again for letting us keep this artwork up, and we look forward to seeing their future pieces!
